Girls with arms around each other

There are tons of ways to have fun and explore the world in Girl Scouts.

At Girl Scouts, it’s our mission to provide you with fun, social, and unique opportunities so that you can do Girl Scouts the way you want. Along the way, you’ll see just how awesome you are at being yourself, being a leader, and making the world a better place!

You are a G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader)™, which means you are ambitious, creative, willing to try new things, and eager to break the mold. Most importantly, you have the power to lead your own Girl Scout experience! Explore all the ways to participate to find what sparks your interest—share those ideas with your troop, troop leader, or mentor—and join today.

Join a troop.

You’ll get together with your friends to play games, go on field trips, and explore the outdoors. Earn badges as you learn to do all kinds of fun things—like painting, camping, geocaching, creating inventions, planting gardens, and so much more. Whether you get together once a week or once a month, you’ll find yourself counting the days until your troop meeting. Find a troop today!

Attend events

We offer activities in your neighborhood, in your city, and all over northeastern New York (15 counties to be precise!). There is bound to be at least one event you’ll want to check out. From pottery to STEM and overnight camping to white water rafting, we have something for everyone. Register for a Council program today.

Go for the Gold (and Silver and Bronze)

The Gold, Silver, and Bronze Awards (a.k.a. “Highest Awards”) are the highest honors you can earn in Girl Scouts. All three awards give you the chance to do big things while working on an issue you care about. To earn these awards, you’ll design and implement a Highest Award Take Action project. Once you’ve completed your project, you’ll have made a bold, sustainable impact on the world—and you’ll have put in some serious work.

Get outdoors at camp.

At Girl Scout summer camp, you’ll develop the kind of outdoor skills that are hard to build anywhere else. Skills like safely building a campfire, pitching a tent, or canoeing across a lake. Hey, how about adding some horseback riding, rock climbing, and archery to the mix? Don’t forget to round things out with a ropes course, some zip-lining, and maybe a week-long back-country hike! You’ll find out how much fun it can be to unplug and explore the world around you.

Sell Girl Scout Cookies (and more!)

Girl Scout Cookies are the best, but did you know Girl Scouts can sell candy and nuts and magazines too? Besides being delicious, selling Cookies is a fun way to learn five important life skills. Participating in these two program experiences can help pay for your camping trips, events, and worldly travels. How many girls can say they paid for all that on their own?

Earn Badges

Start earning badges now with activities like making your own movie, inventing something new, writing a book, planting a garden, painting a masterpiece, starring in a play, becoming a nature photographer, turning your bedroom into a jungle, running a business, going on an adventure trip, designing a website—the options are endless!

Travel the World

From local field trips to global adventures—if you love exploring different places and cultures, then Girl Scouts is the place for you! Make friends from all over the country and world, as you visit our five World Centers! So pack your bags and get ready for inspiring, life-changing experiences when you travel with your Girl Scout sisters.

Blaze Your Own Trail

Juliette Girl Scouts, or Independent Girl Scouts, are registered girl members, in grades K-12, who are not affiliated with a troop. Participate in a way that fits your schedule, attend events and participate in activities that meet your needs and interests. As a Juliette, you won't attend troop meetings; instead you will work on Girl Scout programs with the guidance of an adult. You decide what activities to participate in and which awards to complete. Join today as an independent Girl Scout.

Explore Journeys

Girl Scout Journeys are just one of the many ways you can make a difference in the world—from helping others get healthy and fit (and stay that way!), to saving the planet. Once you choose a Journey topic that interests you most, you’ll identify a problem, design a solution, and put a plan into action. Along the way, you’ll find inspiration, challenge yourself, earn awards to put on your uniform, and, of course, have a great time.
