Why Go To Girl Scout Summer Camp

Girl Scout Camp offers girls (you don't have to be a registered Girl Scout!) the great opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, make new friends, develop new skills, and become a leader. Girl Scouts offer several camp experiences under the guidance of trained, caring adults including day camps and resident camps. Get back to nature with Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York!

Here are the top five reasons Girl Scout summer camp rules!

At Girl Scout camp, we allow the journeys to be Girl-led. We encourage girls to ask lots of questions, make suggestions, do the work themselves (even if mistakes are made) and ask them to be in charge. We’ve seen how much this means to them and how much they grow in confidence and character. Learning by doing is fun and the best way. Studies show that Girl Scouts are more successful in school and they develop a stronger sense of self.

Outdoor Adventures

A day at Girl Scout camp is filled with so many outdoor activities. The fresh air, closeness to the environment and first-hand experience with nature is the perfect setting for girls to learn and develop their skills. Northeastern New York has the most amazing scenery including the Adirondack Mountains, lakes and rivers, and beautiful wildlife. The girls are introduced to Leave No Trace principles for outdoor ethics – protecting the outdoors by teaching responsibility. They’ll learn to build a campfire, cook meals, put up their own tents and how to use a compass and keep wildlife safe.

Cooperative Learning

Girl Scouts learn incredible life skills from meal prep, putting up tents, building bird houses, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) projects that can help change the world, and more. We guide them through new experiences and help them grow and build new skills.

Unforgettable Friends

Girl Scout friends are the best friends. Although the diversity is vast, the girls are all part of the same mindset of wanting to grow and help their communities. Girl Scouts have a bond that is supported by the work they do together, their life goals, and the time they spend together growing as individuals.

Making new friends, selling cookies (ahhhh, the cookies!), horseback riding, camping, helping the community, learning CPR, zip lining, and more. Girls have the most memorable experiences and a great time doing them. The schedule is jam packed with so many amazing events and programs. There is something for everyone (Girl Scout camp is open to non-Girl Scouts!).

If you’re convinced that this is the camp you’d like to try, we have both Day Camp and Overnight options. Summer Camp Registration for 2019 closes June 15.
