Traditions give Girl Scouts a sense of history, inspire them to be the best they can be, and helps remind girls they belong to a big, powerful, and inclusive sisterhood. Ceremonies can commemorate accomplishments, add something special to a meeting, or mark special events. This class will teach you about some of the most common traditions and ceremonies you can incorporate into your own troop and how to plan them.

Taking girls outside can be a fun time for everyone as girls develop outdoor skills and a passion for nature. Now it’s even easier for Girl Scout volunteers to introduce girls to the wonders of hiking and camping. Whether you’re a camping pro, or just starting out, you can help girls of all ages have a positive experience in the great outdoors. At Girl Scouts, we work to build girls’ outdoor skills and inspire girls to care for the environment as they grow. In this training we will cover Planning Your Troop’s First Campout, Taking the Journeys Outside, Developing Outdoor Skills in Girls, Introduction to Cooking Outdoors, and Leave No Trace.

Sometimes girls want to attend a fun activity or try something new that isn’t badge related. This is where patches come in handy! Referred to as “fun patches,” these are embroidered symbols similar to badges, but they are considered “unofficial” and are worn on the back of the vest or sash.  From night hikes to corn mazes to museum visits, there’s no limit to the number of fun patches she can proudly display!
