Girls Can Do- Castles, Dragons, and Maidens, Oh My!

Girls Can Do- Castles, Dragons, and Maidens, Oh My!
We all know Girl Scouts CAN Do anything, but can Service Units or Troops team up to help the CANstruction organization and The Food Pantries Organization, (serves 56 pantries in the Capital District Region)?

Did you know that after the holiday’s local food pantries receive fewer donations to help people throughout the long winter months? Girls CAN DO will empower you to make difference to help people locally.

Last year, Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York, through Girls CAN DO, collected over 2 tons of food and received the First Place 2018 Hunger Hero award at the CANstruction ceremony at the NYS Museum.

Your challenge is to hold a food drive collection for canned goods even boxed food ,then “canstruct”, with the food  structure based on the themes. You can choose to build a colossal Medieval  themed construction or theme from CANstruction & The Food Pantries Organization (revealed during the month of October on our website and through GS Express).

After you collect your canned goods throughout the Fall, you'll map out and determine what you will construct at Girl Scout Girls Can Do Event at the Empire State Plaza on January 19, 2019. In the morning you and your team will build you construction and in the afternoon be judged by members of the CANstruction and Food Pantries Organization in various categories.

Perhaps you’ll build a cool castle with a moat, a “knightette” in shining armor or some other replica from a kingdom!
